About UsSomarelang Tikologo (Environment Watch Botswana) is a member-based environmental non-governmental organization (NGO) in Gaborone, Botswana. The aim of the organization is to raise awareness on environmental issues through fundraising events and demonstration projects.
Somarelang Tikologo is comprised of a small, dedicated staff and committed volunteer members that undertake numerous environmental awareness-raising activities throughout the community each year. |

The Board
Chairman – Dr Eagilwe Segosebe, University of Botswana
Dr Segosebe was one of the founders of ST in 1992 in response to what the founding members saw as a growing problem of environmental deterioration. During the 1970s and 1980s decades Botswana was conspicuously characterised by widespread pollution, especially litter. Rapid economic growth and consequent urbanisation broadened the diversity of consumption goods in the country. He continues to be passionate about the environment and to maintain his links with ST.

Deputy Chairman – Mr Gaorekwe Gaorekwe, Director – Brand Botswana, BEDIA
Mr Gaorekwe is a graduate of Durban Institute of Technology in South Africa where studied Public Relations Management, majoring in Media Studies and Communication Science. His career started with Ba Isago University College where he was a training adviser. He later joined Debswana where he was Communications Officer. From Debswana he joined Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority (BEDIA) where he carried out different roles such as Executive Public Relations and Communications, Executive Stakeholder relations, Stakeholder relations manager. Following the merger of BEDIA and IFSC to form Botswana Investment & Trade Centre (BITC) in 2012, he was appointed to the position of Director, Brand Botswana – National Portfolio where he was responsible for setting up the unit and driving the strategy for National portfolio. He was later appointed to the position of Director, Brand Botswana – International Portfolio. He is responsible for driving the country marketing strategy to Position Botswana as an attractive destination to visit, live and invest. Mr Gaorekwe is a Charted Public Relations Practitioner and a member of Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) and the International Business Communicators Association (IBCA). He is currently pursuing his MBA – Global Marketing with the Cyprus Institute of Marketing. As custodian of Brand Botswana he is passionate about the environment and retaining Botswana’s unique landscape, flora and fauna.

Mr Phenyo Motlhagodi, Publisher, Radio Talk Show Host & Producer, Print Media Business Developer, Brand Commentator, Eco Journalist
Mr Motlhagodi, a graduate in English and History from UB, interned at ST and has continued to be involved, joining the Board in March 2012. His media activities give him many opportunities to spread the environmental message.

Mr Tumi Mogwe, Managing Director, Temo Construction
Mr Mogwe is a Quantity Surveyor and is playing an active role the renovation programme for the Eco Park. He has been on the board since 2009 and provides insight into the environmental planning activities

Mrs Rachel Lungile Mothibatsela, Public and Corporate Affairs Manager, Debswana
Mrs Mothibatsela has a BA in Economics and Political Science from UB and a Masters in Leadership and Change Management from Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK. Her working life has been spent in corporate communications, PR and change management. She has worked for Debswana, one of ST’s most generous benefactors, since January 2008. Rachel brings to the ST Board a passion for the environment and excellent analytical skills.

Mrs Magdeline Nondo
Mrs Nondo is a graduate of UB, majoring in Environmental Science and English. She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and a Diploma in Travel Agency. She has been teaching Social Studies at Gabane Secondary School since 2008.

Mr Tefo Molosiwa, Senior Manager Sustainability, Debswana
Mr Molosiwa has Masters degrees in Business and Health, Safety and Environment from universities in the UK and Australia. He has worked for De Beers and then Debswana for 12 years in environmental and sustainability roles. Mr Molosiwa is the other Board member representing Debswana.

The Staff
Mrs Chenesani (Casey) Tamocha – Programmes and Operations Manager.
An Environmental Science graduate from UB, Mrs Tamocha joined ST in 2009 as an intern, completing her placement in 2011. At the end of 2013 she rejoined ST as Programmes Manager on the departure of the Executive Director. At the beginning of 2015 she assumed responsibility for ST operations. Her special area of interest is waste management and recycling, and she is very involved in ST’s glass recycling operation.

Keineele Selaledi (Mmamani ) has been with ST since 2012 cleaning the Eco Park and helping out with the administration.
